A new joy

Temesgen has been a happy boy ever since we met him.  He's an easy going kid who rolls with whatever we do just fine.  He's gotten along with his brothers since day 1 as well.  He's truly such a sweet kid. This week, though, I've noticed something.  He seems to have a new sense of joy.  I can hear a difference in his voice and in his laugh.  He sounds joyful- I can't explain it any other way.  This week was also the first time he talked about anything before the orphanage.  Before, he would act like life before the care center didn't exist- lots of "I don't know" or ignoring the question.  It's only 1 thing- a story about how he got the scar on his forehead (a kid he was playing with threw a rock at him- he seemed to think it was just an accident and they were having fun- all fun and games until a rock hits your head:)).  It wasn't a long story, but the fact that he told it to Landon first and then to me was huge!  Especially now that I can see this change in him.  I'm not a psychologist or counselor- just someone who pays attention and knows her boys well (even my sweet one who's only been with us 4 months out of over 10 years of his life).  I think this week is a really cool week- one where he let some walls down.  One where he seems to be enjoying himself even more- trusting us more and knowing that we do love him and always will. I am blessed and thankful.
