OK, we knew this one was coming. We could look at Kalid's black holes in his teeth and know things were not going to be good at the dentist! He didn't cooperate for x-rays or a teeth cleaning, so pretty much the dentist got him to open his mouth while he cried and she could get a good look. Abuzaid was a rock star patient and got x-rays, cleaning, flouride- everything! But, they both need to go to Children's to be under anesthesia to get all the stuff they need done, done. There's just too much and they would hate the dentist forever if they're awake for all of it. So we'll do that in a few weeks maybe. Kalid's molars might not be able to be saved- at least a couple of them. He has lots of cavities too. He also needs a good scrubbing which they'll do while they're in there. Abuzaid needs a couple teeth extracted so his permanent teeth coming in have room to come in, which right now they don't. He also has lots of cavities to fill and needs some ultrasonic cleaning. She also told us that there's no way he's 4, which we've thought all along really. We don't want to make him too much older, but he's at least 5, so we'll probably work with our dr. and try to change the year he was born and keep the month and day. (we don't want him to be the only non-March birthday!) He has 2 loose top teeth as well so he and Jonah might be on a race to see who can lose the most teeth.:) Landon might feel a little left out since he hasn't lost any!
Even if we change the birth certificate to 5, we still won't start him in school this fall. I'll keep him home with me at least the first semester and then we'll determine what to do from there. I might put him in at the local elementary school for a semester of kdg there before moving him to Frontier for kindergarten next year. We'll see. It's all guesses for now.
So that's our big dentist news- thank goodness for not too many medical issues because the dental care will be expensive!!!:) But they need healthy teeth!
