I get this question a lot from people, asking me if Kalid and Abuzaid are brothers. I know what they mean- they're asking if they are biological siblings. But being home now for over 4 months, it's an interesting question. Even if they weren't biological siblings in Ethiopia (which they were), they're in our family now and have a couple more brothers too. It really doesn't bother me very much to answer questions at this point, but questions like that are hard because once they understand better English, they'll begin to know what people are asking me. Will it make them wonder if they're really meant to be in our family or will they pay much attention to it? We love them and they know that. They know that they are our sons too. But to have so many people ask it is confusing I'm sure.
I had to share something about this very thing. Tonight, Jonah was talking about the day the boys came home and how excited he was and how they found cowboy hats for Abuzaid to put on (it's one of my favorite pictures from our first moments together- Kalid was sleeping because he was overwhelmed). I'm going to post that picture with this post because it was literally taken about 30 minutes, maybe, after getting home and introducing the boys to each other. After Jonah was talking about that night, he said that Kalid and Abuzaid have been his brothers since they were born because God always knew that they were going to be his brothers. I love his heart and I love how much he loves them (Landon too, but he was sleeping in the car during this conversation:)).
Jonah has THE Perfect answer to all those questions. It is quite possible the best and most truth-filled answer I have ever heard, especially because it is put so simply. Thanks for sharing.
