This is my all-time favorite hike! I did it first in high school with my dad and my bff, Jennie O. Then Shane and I did it back in 2000- before kids! When we went to Lily Lake last week and saw it right across the street, it was hard to pass up. We didn't know if the kids could manage it- it's 7 1/2 miles and the summit is at 11,420 feet. But they were rock star hikers! Kalid got a ride for quite a bit of it, but the other 3 did great (and really, Kalid hiked for a good 3 miles at least too). Abuzaid was leading for most of it- up and down. We decided he'd make a great park ranger some day- walking the trails, helping people who need it. He's got the strength and the stamina! Anyway- the beauty speaks for itself in the pictures, though in person, it's just that much more beautiful. You can see why it's my favorite. I was happy to share it with the boys so it can be one of their faves too!:)
