Christmas is celebrated on Jan. 7 in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Aurora invited adoptive families to a celebration for it a couple weeks ago. It was awesome! The sanctuary was packed- way more people than they had in mind when they started planning it. Their hospitality was amazing. There were Ethiopian games to play and songs to listen to (though our boys spent most of their time playing soccer and a hockey like game outside). But it was great to be around families who look like ours and be around Ethiopian people again- I miss Africa- love the people! They fed us a huge meal and gave us all gifts too- what a generous church! Here's some pics of the boys playing a hacky-sack type game played with socks and playing soccer outside- it was a great day for it!
And, by the way- Abuzaid did end up having a great time and seemed OK with the Ethiopian people talking to him- not that he was chatty back to them:). I'm sure it's a big step to know that we can be around Ethiopian people and yet still come home to our house- helps with security I'm sure.
